St. Louis Cardinals star Jordan Walker arrived on the national stage on Monday as he came all the way from three home runs down despite being on his final swing to defeat Kyle Schwarber , the crowd favorite at Citizens Bank Park, in the final round of the Home Run Derby .
The Cardinals right fielder was down to his final swing , but as the new rule stated, he could continue swinging on his final swing as long as he hit the ball out of the park, which he did four consecutive times to steal the crown away from the Philadelphia Phillies slugger.
This is an upset of epic proportions since Schwarber has been one of the best power hitters in MLB over the past few seasons and he had the crowd on his side all Monday long. But Walker stole the show, becoming the first-ever Home Run Derby winner in Cardinals franchise history — much to MLB's all-time career home runs leader Barry Bonds ' delight.

"I thought this was the greatest home run derby I've ever seen," Bonds said on the Netflix post-Home Run Derby show.
Bonds, who knows a thing or two about hitting home runs after smacking 762 dingers throughout his big-league career, was especially impressed with the Cardinals star's composure even as the circumstances didn't favor him whatsoever.
"You were so calm. You used your hands well. You never cared how far the ball went. It was probably the most amazing thing. And for me to say it, brother, Imma tell you right now. To come back from 11 with only 15 (swings), brother, you got my trophy too," Bonds added.
Bonds did win the Home Run Derby, doing so 20 years ago when he beat Mark McGwire in the final round. As he mentioned, he needed to hit just three home runs to win it all.
The Cardinals right fielder must be feeling over the moon hearing this kind of praise from Bonds, who, despite having his career tainted by PED usage, remains one of the sport's all-time greats.
