Bengals hoping for contract extensions with two key players soon

The Cincinnati Bengals have some notable contract extension candidates this offseason.

So far, though, much of the discourse has focused on names like running back Chase Brown and even safety Jordan Battle .

But now would be a good time to focus on the cornerbacks.

Specifically, Geoff Hobson of Bengals .com singled out DJ Turner and Dax Hill this week:

“Plus, while the Bengals hope to extend both Hill and Turner this offseason, they're the only starting outside cornerbacks on the team. Both played full seasons last year after missing significant time in 2024. Translation: you can never have enough corners, particularly if the big man you want isn't there where he's ranked.”

Turner, a second-rounder in 2023, fully enjoyed a breakout season while healthy last year. He’s got one more year left on his rookie deal.

Hill, the first-rounder initially circled as the Jessie Bates replacement at safety, is under contract on his fifth-year option in 2026.

That the Bengals might want to lock down Turner early was obvious, given his No. 1 cornerback upside on the boundary. It’s going to be super-tricky, though, given his reps know what he’s capable of, too.

Hill is a little more complicated. They’ve had problems nailing down his position before he finally settled in on the boundary last season. It might be best for both parties to wait and see how 2026 goes, which would also help the team stagger big cornerback cap hits if they get Turner done.

No matter how it shakes out, Turner and Hill are apparently top of the contract extension list right now.
