- “Big Failure by Red Sox Medical Team” – Boston Fans Blast Clubhouse Over Garrett Whitlock’s Concerning Injury Update

Red Sox fans shared their frustration in response to the latest health updates on relief pitcher Garrett Whitlock. Whitlock made his only postseason appearance against the Yankees in Game 2 of the ALWCS, allowing three earned runs on three hits, walking three and striking out one in 1.1 IP.
The outing was not what Whitlock or Boston expected, especially with their backs against the wall, but new health updates show Whitlock pitched through a fractured tibia. According to Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald, the six-year veteran had been enduring pain in the final month of the season.
Fans shared their blunt takes on Whitlock's health updates, with many slamming the organization and the medical staff as the fracture reportedly went undiagnosed until after the Red Sox were eliminated from the postseason.
"I'm no doctor, but this seems like a big failure by the Red Sox medical team," one fan commented.
Boston was outscored 18-2 by the Yankees in the ALWCS. While the offense was underwhelming, the pitching also failed to make an impact against the Red-Hot Bombers' offense.
Both games were played at Yankee Stadium because New York was seeded higher than its AL East rivals. Whitlock appeared only in the 'must-win' Game 2 but failed to make an impact for the visitors.
Whitlock's wife, Jordan, took to Instagram to share an image of the Boston ace enjoying his offseason, calmly relaxing on a deck overlooking the ocean. However, fans and analysts noticed a strange boot on Whitlock's right leg, sparking speculation about his health.
Only after this image did the latest concerns surrounding the 30-year-old's health become clear, as he was diagnosed with a fracture in his tibia.
However, Tyler Milliken, co-host of the Section 10 and Baseball is Dead podcasts, shared that Whitlock will wear the boot for 4-6 weeks, that surgery was not required, and that the relief pitcher was expected to have a normal offseason and to start spring training as scheduled.
