Buffalo Bills GM Brandon Beane was asked about his newest WR1 and he had nothing but great things to say.

Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane was asked this week about wide receiver DJ Moore, and he gave about as glowing of a response as you could see from a GM talking about a player. The Bills acquired Moore earlier this spring , and everything Beane had to say about his new No. 1 receiver should have Buffalo fans feeling great about what's coming in 2026.

Beane breaks down what makes Moore a 'full football player'

The exact question Beane was asked was how much of what he's seen from Moore already compares to what he was envisioning when he made the trade. Here's what Beane had to say :

"Yeah, I mean, you know, you spend a lot of time watching his film over there, and a lot of times, you know, let's just say Joe Fan, what Joe Fan's going to do is watch the catches. But he spent a lot of time watching every play. What he's doing without the ball, what does he do on run plays. Like, this guy's a full football player."

Beane went on to talk about Moore's willingness to do the dirty work:

"Like, he's throwing it in there, blocking. Not that you want that to be his number one attribute, but he's running a deep ball and you can see his speed to clear out for one of their other guys. Like, he's going to do whatever it takes.

He's one of those guys that, unless I'm totally missing something, if we won the game and he has no catches, He's going to be fired up. And if he has 10 catches for 200 and we lose the game, he's going to be pissed."

"And that's the first and foremost thing that I love about him, the guy's all ball, all team."

Look, that is about as glowing of a response as you can have about a player. The Bills are not bringing in DJ Moore to be a guy who just gets his nose dirty in the run game. They're bringing him in to be the Bills' No. 1 wide receiver in 2026. Josh Allen's go-to weapon on the perimeter.

The fact that Moore has all these other traits is great. Grabbing fully a team-first guy who can give you that production on the field, makes it already seem like this was a win on Buffalo's part in making the move to acquire Moore. That already speaks volumes to me.

The veteran leadership factor

Now, think about the young guys the Bills have in that receiver room. Keon Coleman and Skyler Bell could certainly use that veteran leadership right in front of them. I'm not just talking about on-field stuff such as how to run routes or how to use the playbook to their advantage. I'm talking about the mentality of being team-first and willing to do whatever it takes to help the team win.

That could go a long way for those two guys, especially Coleman.

Beane also revealed something about Moore's toughness that tells you everything you need to know:

"You know, he obviously got nicked up in that first preseason game against Carolina, and the medical team was like, hey, this may take a little bit. And he said, 'no, I'm going, I'm going'.

We didn't even really want him going in the Cleveland joint practice, and he's like, 'no, I'm going. I want to be out there with my guys'."

Moore is not a guy who has to prove himself. We all know what he can do. He's totaled over 8,000 yards and over 40 touchdowns in his eight year career so far.

DJ Moore isn't some rookie coming into the league. He's not a player with a roster spot on the line. This is the dude coming in to be Buffalo's No. 1 receiver. He doesn't have to be doing this, but he's setting the standard day in and day out for this team.

If he's healthy and can play, he's going to go out there and do whatever it takes to be with his teammates, even in the preseason and joint practices.

The part Beane didn't see coming

Beane closed with something that really stood out:

"The skill set is exactly what I thought I saw in Chicago- the movement skills, the speed, the different route running, the variety of routes he can run, the hands. The run after catch, all that stuff that I talked about when we traded.

That's the part that I did not know, is this dude wants to be on the field at practice, walkthrough. He does not want to talk about an injury or be in the training room."

That's an A+ review from your general manager, as good as it gets. The skill set was the known commodity - the movement, the speed, the route running, the hands - and it all checked out on film. Brandon Beane obviously referenced it.

But the competitor, the teammate, the guy who refuses to sit out? That was the bonus Beane didn't know he was getting. The Bills are going to be very happy they made this trade, and Moore is going to be a huge part of whatever Buffalo does this season.
