The Buffalo Bills were one of the worst teams against the run last season. Buffalo was a Super Bowl contender , but they allowed 2,315 yards on the ground, the fifth-worst mark in the NFL. Despite that, Buffalo didn't make many moves to bolster their defensive front during the offseason.
With the regular season just weeks away, the need for more run stuffing became evident, which led to the signing of Greg Gaines. Jeremy Flower reported the transaction , which was met with a simultaneous move in which the team released Tommy Akinbestote .
Gaines entered the NFL as a fourth-round pick in 2019. The defensive tackle contributed to the Los Angeles Rams' Super Bowl LVI win before he joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, whom he spent the past three seasons with. The seven-year veteran has 186 combined tackles and 14.5 sacks to his name thus far.

The Washington product will have a chance to earn a spot on the Bills' 53-man roster , where he would then serve in a defensive line rotation that includes Ed Oliver, Deone Walker, and Zane Durant.
Buffalo has been on the brink of winning a championship for years now. It has been marginal mistakes that have prevented championship glory, though, especially considering Josh Allen is one of the best players in the NFL. Gaines isn't likely to have a big role in Buffalo, but he has proven himself as a solid backup who can help stuff the run. He even provides more in the pass rush than he's given credit for.
