Dalton Kincaid's quiet afternoon against the Patriots was partly a playing-time story. The Buffalo Bills tight end was on the field for 35 of 59 offensive snaps in Sunday's 29-26 loss to the Patriots , one fewer than Dawson Knox, according to the NFL's official gamebook .
Bills offense: tight ends split the work
Knox played 36 snaps, Kincaid 35 and Jackson Hawes 14, so the Bills used 85 tight end snaps on 59 plays. Kincaid finished with one catch for 7 yards on two targets. "I gotta be better. There's no reason Dalton Kincaid should have two targets," Joe Brady said afterward .
At receiver, Keon Coleman led the group with 46 snaps and turned them into six catches for 116 yards and a touchdown. Khalil Shakir played 45. DJ Moore was at 23 when he left with a shoulder injury late in the second quarter, and Joshua Palmer picked up most of the difference with 35.
James Cook played 35 snaps, or 59%, and carried 12 times. Ty Johnson played 19 and Ray Davis four. Josh Allen and all five starting linemen played every snap.
Bills defense: 76 snaps and a short-handed secondary

The defense was on the field for 17 more snaps than the offense because New England held the ball for 33:41. Rookie cornerback Davison Igbinosun and safeties Cole Bishop and C.J. Gardner-Johnson played all 76, and Maxwell Hairston played 74.
The injuries show up in the totals. Dee Alford and Ed Oliver were each at 24 snaps when they left in the third quarter , Alford with an ankle injury and Oliver with a knee injury. Damar Hamlin also played 24. Up front, Deone Walker (59), DeWayne Carter (45), Greg Gaines (31) and Landon Jackson (29) handled the interior work with Oliver hurt and T.J. Sanders unavailable.
On the edge, Bradley Chubb played 63 snaps and Greg Rousseau 62. TJ Parker had half a sack and a forced fumble in 20 snaps. Terrel Bernard led the linebackers with 70, followed by Dorian Williams at 52.
The Bills visit the Los Angeles Rams on Monday, Oct. 12. Christian Benford, who missed Sunday's game with a toe injury, and Alford are the names to watch on the injury report, because the cornerback snaps have nowhere else to go.
