It's black stripe season in Columbus and the latest Buckeye has seemingly become official.
Ohio State running back Stanley Jackson Jr. got his black stripe removed on Tuesday during preseason camp, marking a significant step for the former invited walk-on.
A Westerville, Ohio, native, Jackson arrived at Ohio State following a successful prep career at Westerville North and Marshall. He has yet to make an appearance in a game in his first two seasons in Columbus, redshirting in 2024 and not seeing game action in 2025. He is entering his third season at Ohio State and will hope to use the momentum gained this preseason to produce on the field.
Jackson's father, Stanley Jackson Sr., was a former letterman at Ohio State. He was a starting quarterback for the Buckeyes from 1995-97, and had a record of 18-2 record over his final two seasons.
The younger Jackson faces a competitive path in Ohio State's backfield. Sophomores Bo Jackson and Isaiah West are two of the best running backs in the Big Ten, and Ja'Kobi Jackson also received his black stripe removal earlier in the day.
Ohio State's black stripe tradition started with Urban Meyer in 2012 and has continued under Ryan Day.
