West Linn (Ore.) four-star cornerback Josiah Molden is down to six schools in his recruitment, he tells Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett.

Among the remaining contenders are Ohio State, USC, Miami, Oregon, Texas and Washington. Molden is fresh off a visit to Eugene over the weekend, and the in-state Ducks are one of the schools pacing his recruitment.

Oregon is looking to get him in the fold sooner rather than later.

“I would say (Lanning is) pushing a little bit toward a commitment,” he told Rivals’ Adam Gorney . “It’s kind of getting to that time. He was continuing to put out all the positives and having my family living here and saying everything a really great head coach would say to a recruit.”

However, the other schools involved are not relenting either.

Texas  and  Washington  are set to host Molden soon, and others could be on the docket as well.

Molden is a Ducks legacy

The 6-foot, 175-pounder is intimately familiar with the UO program, and not just because he plays inside the state.

His father Alex Molden was a star in the  Oregon Ducks  secondary in the 1990s. A four-year starter, Molden helped lead the Ducks to Rose Bowl and Cotton Bown berths in back-to-back years. He left Oregon as the program leader with 60 passes broken up and eighth in interceptions (11), while being named a first-team All-American in 1995.

He was later selected 11th overall in the first round of the NFL Draft in 1996 and was inducted into the Oregon Hall of Fame in 2008.

The younger Molden is one of the nation’s top cornerbacks, checking in as the country’s No. 165 overall prospect and No. 16 CB, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking , an equally weighted average that utilizes all three major recruiting services.
