The Toronto Blue Jays announced disappointing news on Saturday prior to game two against the Kansas City Royals and amid their Wild Card chase.
Despite a colossal slowdown compared to their American League pennant-winning 2025 season, they still find themselves in the hunt among a weak league and sit one game back of the the Cleveland Guardians for the final spot. They hold a 71-71 record.
On Friday, right-handed pitcher Jameson Taillon made his return to the rotation after spending time on the 15-day injured list with right forearm tendinitis, but his return to the mound was unfortunately cut short.
The 34-year-old exited after two innings and the Blue Jays announced he is back on the 15-day injured list with right elbow inflammation.
Through 18 starts, Taillon has put up a 5.65 ERA for the Jays with 76 strikeouts and 32 walks across 86 innings.
As the corresponding move, the Blue Jays have recalled left-hander Ricky Tiedemann from Triple-A.
Tiedemann made his major league debut for Toronto in August before being sent back down to the minors, and back up to the majors. Overall he pitched 2 2/3 innings allowing one earned run while striking out two.
The 24-year-old ranks as the Jays 11th best prospect, he sports an electric Fastball-Changeup combination.
He is active tonight in game two against the Royals.
