The Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Cleveland Guardians on Wednesday in a blowout, winning Game 2 of the important three-game set by a final score of 11-0.
While right-handed ace Dylan Cease shut down Cleveland, it was first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr.'s afternoon that stole the spotlight.

Guerrero has undoubtedly had the worst season of his eight-year MLB career up until this point. However, he went off during Wednesday's win, collecting three hits including a double and a home run.
He drove in five of the 11 runs Toronto scored, helping the Blue Jays cruise to victory. With the win, Toronto now sits just 1.5 games back of the Guardians for the third and final American League wild card spot.
After the game, the Blue Jays took to social media to award Guerrero with Performer of the Game, presented by Microsoft Copilot. "Had a night 💥 #BlueJays50," the club wrote on X.

To see Guerrero perform at this level is a sight for sore eyes. His struggles all season long have been a big reason why the Blue Jays' season has been so underwhelming.
Even after his performance on Wednesday, he owns a .262 batting average, .333 on-base percentage and .693 OPS, which are below league average. But if there is any player capable of getting hot at the right time and turning it around, it is Guerrero.
He did it just last October when he led the Blue Jays to their first World Series in over three decades. Toronto is hoping he can do the same thing right now in September to propel the team to another playoff appearance.

He will have a chance to continue his momentum Thursday in the series finale against Cleveland. With a win, Toronto will sit just 0.5 games back of the Guardians.
