Blue Jays make immediate decision on 25-year-old Canadian pitcher
There’s nothing quite like a baseball player making the roster of their home town team.
In the case of Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Adam Macko , who went to high school in Alberta, the concept extends to the entire country. As Canada’s only Major League Baseball team, the Blue Jays have a nation all to themselves.

Macko, 25, has yet to make his major league debut in six professional seasons in the Blue Jays and Seattle Mariners organizations.
If he debuts in 2026, it won’t be on Opening Day.
The Blue Jays optioned Macko to their minor league camp on Tuesday. They also reassigned non-roster invitees Fernando Perez and Gage Stanifer to their minor league camp.
Macko is eligible to return to the Jays’ big league camp in Dunedin, Florida to replace an injured player if that situation arose during the final weeks of spring.
Macko made two scoreless appearances in spring training out of the Blue Jays’ bullpen. The left-hander walked two batters and struck out two without allowing a hit.
Last year at Triple-A Buffalo, Macko made 18 appearances (10 starts) and posted a 3-8 record and 5.06 ERA.
The Blue Jays originally acquired Macko and pitcher Erik Swanson from the Seattle Mariners on November 16, 2022, in the trade that sent Teoscar Hernandez to Seattle.
