The Toronto Blue Jays are struggling a bit this season, off to a 4-6 start, thanks in part to a pitching staff that's not been at its best so far.
But their on-field performance isn't the only issue. The injuries, which were already a big issue, are piling up to a ridiculous degree.
To counter the depleted staff, Zachary D. Rymer of Bleacher Report linked the Blue Jays to a former New York Yankees All-Star as a free agent target. This pitcher, who's an interesting option but comes with a lot of risk, is Marcus Stroman , the former Blue Jay.
Blue Jays linked to free agent Marcus Stroman reunion
"Other landing spots: Atlanta Braves , Toronto Blue Jays , St. Louis Cardinals ," Rymer noted for Stroman's free agent destination this year.
While the Blue Jays might not be as in need of Stroman long-term, they need a lot of help in the short-term, thanks to a lengthy injury report.
Shane Bieber , Trey Yesavage , Jose Berrios , and Bowden Francis began the year on the injured list. And through just two weeks, Cody Ponce and potentially Max Scherzer will join them.
Even if Stroman isn't great, which he wasn't in 2025 in nine outings with the Yankees with a 6.23 ERA, he'd at least eat some innings.

The 34-year-old righty, who was an All-Star with the Blue Jays back in 2019 with a 2.96 ERA in 21 starts, would be an intriguing addition to the rotation for a little while.
With so many injuries to the starting rotation options, Toronto needs fresh arms for the rotation just to get by. While they could go after a top arm, it's a tricky situation with a lot of these injuries being short-term issues.
The Blue Jays need rotation help, and Stroman would be an interesting option. He's not likely to be great for the Blue Jays, but he could, at least, provide the Blue Jays with some value by eating some innings.
It's not a perfect option, but Stroman could at least be a fun reunion for a short while. And if he does find success, then Toronto just got a starter for very little in the middle of the season. They need to make a move, and Stroman could be one such option.
