The Toronto Blue Jays announced four roster moves on Monday as right-hander Trey Yesavage prepares to return against the Baltimore Orioles .
Toronto reinstated Yesavage from the 15-day injured list and recalled right-hander Chad Dallas from Triple-A Buffalo. The 23-year-old Yesavage is 5-5 with a 3.65 ERA and 91 strikeouts in 93 2/3 innings over 18 starts this season.
The Blue Jays also optioned right-hander Spencer Arrighetti to their spring training facility in Dunedin, Florida, and designated left-hander Joe Mantiply for assignment. Yesavage has not pitched in a major league game since August 4, when he left a start against the Houston Astros with a torn meniscus in his left knee.
He was placed on the injured list a day later, then underwent arthroscopic surgery to repair his meniscus on August 11. Manager John Schneider said Yesavage is expected to throw about three innings and 40 to 50 pitches on Monday.
Arrighetti, acquired in a trade with the Houston Astros at the trade deadline, has a 6.35 ERA in 22 2/3 innings over seven appearances with Toronto. He earned the win Sunday in a 7-2 victory over the Texas Rangers , allowing two runs in 2 1/3 innings.
