Bo Bichette and 3 players Mets must consider trading amid abysmal season appeared first on ClutchPoints . Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here .
The New York Mets ' 2026 season has not gone according to plan. New York entered the '26 campaign with serious aspirations of competing. Yet, the ball club is currently in last place in the National League East standings. Unless they turn things around as soon as possible, the Mets will likely sell ahead of the trade deadline. Freddy Peralta has been mentioned as a trade candidate, but the team could also look to move Bo Bichette and other stars.
Without further ado, here are four players the Mets must consider trading this season.
Bo Bichette

The Mets signed Bichette to a deal through 2028, but he has an opt-out after this season and a player option for 2028. In other words, there is a good chance that Bichette will return to free agency sooner rather than later.
If the Mets were competing, then keeping him would make sense. After all, he could help the ball club make a deep postseason run. If New York struggles all season, misses the playoffs and then watches Bichette leave in free agency, that would be a worst possible scenario.
The Mets must consider trading the infielder if they do not turn things around before the trade deadline. Yes, Bichette has struggled this season . He currently has a .580 OPS. However, Bichette has a proven track record. Every MLB team knows what he is capable of from an offensive standpoint.
Many contenders around the MLB world would be willing to surrender multiple top prospects even for a half-season of Bichette.
Freddy Peralta

Peralta has been mentioned in trade rumors on a consistent basis. He is set to enter free agency after the 2026 campaign. Moving on from him makes too much sense for the Mets if they continue to underperform.
Peralta has pitched well for the most part in 2026, turning in a 3.52 ERA across 11 starts as of this story's writing. The two-time All-Star was acquired by the Mets this past offseason from the Milwaukee Brewers . He was expected to help lead New York back to the postseason. Yet, right now it seems more likely that Peralta will be on a new team in August.
Kodai Senga

Senga has been limited to five starts due to injury this season. However, he could return soon. If Senga returns and performs at a respectable level, he will boost his trade value. And if the Mets sell ahead of the trade deadline, moving on from Senga could make sense.
There is not as much urgency to trade Senga as other players mentioned in this story because the right-handed pitcher is under contract through 2027 and has an option for 2028. Additionally, Senga has struggled while on the mound in 2026. Teams in need of starting pitching help would be interested in Senga, though. The contract would catch contenders' attention, while they would also remember his impressive 3.02 ERA from a season ago.
If the Mets are going to enter a quick rebuild this season, trading Senga would help them acquire young and talented players.
Luke Weaver

Weaver has been one of the better relievers for the Mets in 2026. He is under contract through 2027 as well. Of course, relief pitching is always a necessity at the trade deadline.
Weaver has pitched to a 3.38 ERA through 20 appearances as of this story's writing. Contenders would be willing to over-pay for Weaver given the fact that there are not always many star relief pitchers available at the trade deadline.
