Earlier this year, Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix put a smile on the faces of Oregon Duck fans, beating the Buffalo Bills in the Divisional Round of the AFC playoffs and advancing to the AFC Championship Game for the first time in his career. It was a gutsy win over Josh Allen and the Bills, and one that acted as the crowning achievement for a young and promising star in Denver.
But minutes after the final whistle blew, that smile turned into a frown for Oregon and Denver fans alike. It was announced that Nix had broken a bone in his ankle at the end of the game and would miss the remainder of the season, including the AFC championship.
A bummer way for the promising season to come to an end, but hopefully just a speed bump in the early stages of a glorious career.
Going into his third year with the Broncos, Nix appears to be healthy and ready to get back on the horse. He offered a positive injury update ahead of July's training camp with Denver.
"The doctors told me that the ankle looks good as new," Nix said. "We're right back to normal."
The most positive update of all? If the season were here today, there would be nothing stopping Nix from getting on the field.
"I could go full go right now if they wanted me to."
Nix showed some great production in his first two years in the NFL, throwing for a combined 7,706 yards and 54 touchdowns, while also adding 786 yards and nine touchdowns on the ground. As a member of the loaded 2024 QB class, Nix is among the best players to come out so far. While the injury may have cut his most prominent postseason run short, it doesn't appear that it will derail things further than that.
