Amar Dedić was one of nine Newcastle United players that missed the win over Hull City due to injury.
After an excellent start to his United career, the Bosnia and Herzegovina international first picked up an injury issue exactly two weeks ago, during the 1-0 win at Millwall on Tuesday 8 September.
Matthias Jaissle asked after that Carabao Cup match about Amar Dedić who was subbed off at half-time against Millwall and replaced by Tino Livramento , following the game the manager said it was a hamstring issue and he'd taken the full-back off as a precaution: "We don't think it looks too serious."
Six days later Newcastle played away at Leeds in the Premier League and Amar Dedić did indeed start once again, with Matthias Jaissle having said that he was needing to take things slowly with Tino Livramento after his long injury absence. Saying the England international wasn't ready to start matches as yet.
In that defeat at Elland Road, Amar Dedić lasted 58 minutes before he was replaced by Tino Livramento.
In his pre-match press conference ahead of the Hull game, Matthias Jaissle confirmed that he had three new injuries after Leeds, with Nico Gonzalez , Jacob Ramsey and Amar Dedić having all been added to the injury list.
Amar Dedić is a key player for Bosnia and Herzegovina and they have four Nations League matches coming up, playing away against Poland and Romania, then home to Sweden and Poland.
Ahead of these games, the head coach of the national football team of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sergej Barbarez, held a press conference on Monday in Sarajevo.
With a lot of interest amongst his countrymen after the excellent start Amar Dedić has made to his Newcastle United career, Sergej Barbarez was keen to explain in detail why the United defender wasn't going to be available for his national team with his hamstring issue: "I would like to say a few technical things regarding the extent of Amar Dedić's injury. He renewed his injury against Leeds, the extent of the injury is greater than before. If he had rested that game, he would certainly be with us now, but such things happen. He will be absent for three or four weeks. He will not be ready for these four games."
Very tough luck on Amar Dedić to have picked up this injury so soon after moving to Tyneside but from a selfish NUFC point of view, interesting to hear what Sergej Barbarez had to say regarding the expected timeframe for the full-back's recovery.
Tino Livramento pulled out of the England squad yesterday with his latest injury issue and with so many players missing, Matthias Jaissle desperate to get some numbers back after the international break.
Newcastle next play away at Coventry which is on Monday 12 October, exactly four weeks after Amar Dedić aggravated his hamstring issue against Leeds, so the defender hopefully with a very good chance of being available for United's eighth match of the season.
