Bounou joins goalkeepers' union elite with Mbappé penalty save 🧤
The quarterfinals of the 2026 World Cup has already given us a moment to savour this evening as tournament favourite France clashes with Morocco in Boston.
And we have two of the most beloved players from each side to thank for it.

Across what has been a dominant opening half from Didier Deschamps' Les Bleus , France are unfortunate to be level at nil-nil heading into the second half, with Kylian Mbappé spurning a glorious chance to add his 8th goal of the tournament.
The Real Madrid superstar confidently stepped up from the spot, only to watch as his nonchalant effort from 12 yards was saved by Atlas Lions cult hero Yassine Bounou .
Already a goalkeeper of pedigree and a key piece of his nation's recent ascendency on the international stage, the 35-year-old Al-Hilal goalkeeper has kept Morocco in with a chance of ending their seven-match winless run against France, making history in the process.

Bounou now sits on four saved penalties at World Cups (including shootouts), joining some elite company.
Now sat at a table with legendary figures the likes of Iker Casillas and Harald Schumacher, Bounou's international legacy is the stuff dreams are made of.
