The game was scoreless through the first three innings with Sale wriggling out of trouble several times and Tolle keeping the Braves from getting on the scoreboard with his overpowering fastball. Both teams scored two runs in the fourth inning and when the Braves put runners on with two outs in the fifth inning, Tolle came out of the game.
The Braves would dominate against the Red Sox bullpen with 5 runs in the sixth inning and they cruised to the victory. However, Sale was impressed with Tolle's effort and he believes the young lefthander will have a solid future in the big leagues.
"I told him I like watching him pitch," Sale said , per Ian Browne of MLB.com. "He pitches with a with an intensity. He's got really good stuff, He's going to be good for a long time."
Ronald Acuna of the Braves broke the game open with the fourth grand slam of his career in the sixth inning. Ozzie Albies and Michael Harris also homered for the Braves.
