Atlanta Braves outfielder Michael Harris II is dealing with a quad injury . It remains to be seen if the outfielder will end up on the injured list, however. Mark Bowman of MLB.com shared the latest update on the situation.
“ Michael Harris II will DH most of this road trip if his quad doesn’t get any worse. But he could go on the IL, if there’s not any improvement,” Bowman reported on Thursday.
The Braves have played well in 2026 and Harris has played a crucial role in the team’s success. The 25-year-old is hitting .320/.355/.540 across 29 games played so far this season. He has hit six home runs and four doubles as well.
Atlanta would obviously love it if Harris is able to avoid an IL stint. With that being said, they do want Harris to be as healthy as possible. If a stint on the IL will make that happen, then Atlanta will strongly consider the possibility.
There is a chance that being limited to designated hitter duties in upcoming games will provide Harris with enough rest to recover from the quad injury. The Braves will continue to monitor and provide updates on the situation as they are made available.
On Thursday, the Braves were defeated 5-2 by the Detroit Tigers . Despite the defeat, Atlanta still holds a 22-10 overall record. The ball club continues to lead the National League East, as they are currently 6.5 games ahead of the second place Miami Marlins .
Atlanta will begin its upcoming road trip on Friday against the Rockies in Colorado .
