Atlanta Braves left-hander Dylan Dodd will start Game 1 of the National League Division Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday, giving the Braves their answer after entering the day without an announced starter. The 28-year-old will work as an opener in a bullpen game at Dodger Stadium.
MLB.com's Mark Bowman shared news of the decision Saturday on X, formerly Twitter, after earlier noting that Atlanta was still weighing its Game 1 options. Dodd gets the assignment as Atlanta manages a rotation thinned by injuries and recent Wild Card usage. Chris Sale is lined up for Game 2, and Tyler Mahle is not available before Game 3.
"Dylan Dodd is starting for the Braves today."
