The Atlanta Braves decided to rest their biggest names for the final game against the Miami Marlins on September 27, 2026. This was not a panic move but a planned rest before the postseason starts at Truist Park on Tuesday. Per Battery Power , Ronald Acuña Jr. and Michael Harris II will watch from the dugout today. Drake Baldwin also sits out, leaving the field for younger players to get their swings. It is a bold choice to bench your MVP candidate, but the team needs fresh legs for the playoffs. Matt Olson , the sole standout in the lineup, began today to guarantee his fifth consecutive year of appearing in all 162 games. That is a massive feat in a league that grinds players down to dust.
With the regulars out, the spotlight shifts to Janson Junk and JR Ritchie for this pitching preview. The game thread highlights this matchup as the main event for fans watching from home or the bar. According to Battery Power, this is a Braves-Marlins game thread designed for fans who love to watch the scoreboard. The lineup features Mauricio Dubón leading off in left field, with Ozzie Albies hitting second. Austin Riley cleans up the order ahead of Mike Yastrzemski , while Sean Murphy and Ha-Seong Kim bat sixth and seventh. RF Brewer Hicklen and CF DaShawn Keirsey Jr . fill the spots usually held by the rested stars. The team is testing depth before the real pressure starts.
This game proves that Matt Olson is the heart of this club even when the stars rest. A rarity in modern baseball, his appearance today ensures Matt Olson completes five straight seasons of playing every single one of the 162 games. Most players need days off to stay healthy, yet Olson keeps showing up every single day. This durability matters more than any single game result in September. The Braves have a clear path to the postseason, but they need a leader who never misses a beat. The rest for the others shows trust in the bench, but Olson remains the anchor. The team knows they need him ready for the big stage at Truist Park.
The postseason schedule is set to begin with games starting Tuesday at Truist Park. The team has prepared for this moment all week by managing their workload carefully. This final contest against the Marlins is the last step before the real baseball begins. Fans should expect a different vibe when the playoffs open up at home. The regular season ends now, but the fight for the title is just getting started.
