The Atlanta Braves recalled right-handed prospect Owen Murphy from Triple-A Gwinnett and designated left-hander Bailey Falter for assignment Sunday, continuing to adjust their pitching roster during the final stretch of the regular season.
The 22-year-old gives Atlanta a young arm capable of providing length out of the bullpen or handling spot-duty opportunities as the Braves navigate a rotation that has been hit hard by injuries this season.

The 2022 first-round pick has posted a 4.05 ERA with six strikeouts and a 1.20 WHIP across 6 2/3 innings in three big-league appearances this year. He was selected 20th overall out of Riverside-Brookfield High School before suffering Tommy John surgery in June 2024 and returning to the mound in July 2025.
Getting back to the big leagues just over a year after that return is a meaningful milestone for a pitcher the organization clearly still believes in as a long-term piece.
Falter was only added to the roster on September 9 and made two relief appearances before being designated for assignment to clear space for Murphy. The 29-year-old southpaw came to Atlanta as part of the Lane Thomas trade with the Kansas City Royals back in August. If he clears waivers he could be outrighted to Triple-A Gwinnett and remain within the organization.
Murphy's promotion gives Atlanta another internal arm to work with as they piece together a functional pitching staff for October. The Braves have been hit hard by rotation injuries this season and every available option matters as the postseason approaches. His performance over the final two weeks of the regular season will determine what kind of role, if any, he plays in October.
