The Atlanta Braves have continued their hot streak of late, recently picking up a second straight win over the Toronto Blue Jays. The Braves sit with the best record in the MLB at 42-20, but that doesn't mean that the team won't look to get better at the upcoming MLB trade deadline.

The hottest name on the market is Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal , who was floated by MLB insider Jeff Passan of ESPN as the Braves' best fit at the deadline. He also named Washington Nationals shortstop CJ Abrams as another good fit for the squad.
Abrams was named an MLB All-Star during the 2024 season and would help to stabilize the Braves' fluid shortstop situation, which has fluctuated based on performance so far this year.
However, Passan also made it known that the Braves should go big game hunting in the form of Skubal.
"To beat the Dodgers, teams need to assemble a wrecking crew that can go toe-to-toe with the first back-to-back World Series champions in a quarter-century. Starting a series with Skubal and Chris Sale — and having Spencer Strider and Bryce Elder to fill out the rotation — is quite a place to begin," noted Passan.

Indeed, there has been something of an arms race among NL teams outside the Los Angeles Dodgers as they look to keep up with the reigning two-time champions.
Adding Skubal to what has already been the best team in baseball this year would certainly put Atlanta even further in the driver's seat as the team with the best chance to challenge Los Angeles, even if it would still be an uphill climb.
The MLB trade deadline is set for August 3.
