Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Cooper DeJean struggled against the Washington Commanders, and former NFL players Shannon Sharpe and Chad Ochocinco weighed in on his performance. On their "Nightcap" podcast with former NBA player Joe Johnson, they discussed the Eagles' 27-10 loss and DeJean's recent woes, likening his situation
to the also-struggling Justin Herbert. The couple confirmed their relationship on May 2, 2026.
During their discussion, Sharpe made a pointed remark about DeJean's relationship with Dallas Cowboys cheerleader Abby Summers. They also referenced Herbert's relationship with singer Madison Beer.
"I think Cooper might be in a relationship too. I think he might be in a relationship with somebody famous," Ochocinco said.
"He need to break up immediately. he need to break up with her immediately," Sharpe said.
"I think he and Justin Herbert, I think they're having the same issue. They're having the same," added Ochocinco.
"This is ridiculous," Sharpe said.
Sharpe also discussed DeJean's impact on the team, from his Super Bowl performance to his earlier play, noting that the cornerback should improve. The three-time Super Bowl winner said:
"He plays it (the cornerback position) well. I don't know what happened to this young man. We saw him in the Super Bowl pick Patrick Mahomes up and take him to his house in his rookie year. We saw him play really well. I don't know what happened. ChaD said he's dating Abby Summers, a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader."
Even as the Philadelphia Eagles have been losing, DeJean has been a regular contributor, usually recording at least two solo tackles every game. He went off
in the Week 5 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars with six solo tackles and four assists. However, in Sunday's defeat against the Washington Commanders, DeJean had only one solo tackle and two assists, his worst performance of the season so far.

When the Eagles faced the Dallas Cowboys, he played well, tallying seven total tackles, three solo and four assists. He also played well against the Carolina Panthers with five solo tackles. The cornerback currently has 48 total tackles, 26 solo, 22 assists, and one interception this season. However, while he has been consistent in his tackles, his interception stat is still lacking.
Cooper DeJean Talks About Philadelphia Eagles' Losing Streak
After the loss to the Commanders on Sunday, the Philadelphia Eagles have now lost six games in a row. Players were already feeling the heat, as cornerback Cooper DeJean explained after the loss to the Dallas Cowboys the week prior, as reported by Athlon Sports via Yahoo Sports
.
"It's been tough, to be honest," he said. "With the success that we've had the last couple years, it's been tough to lose games, even lose snaps out there on defense. Not to look at the past, but we made a lot of plays the last couple years. There's been plays that we've made that we haven't made this season. You have to find a way to get past that, though, and learn from it. But I'd be lying if I said it's easy to just move on from those plays. You get beat, you mess up a fit, whatever it is. It's tough to move on from that. But that's the mindset you have to have in this league."
DeJean had been part of a winning team since he was drafted in 2024, winning the Super Bowl as a rookie. This is new territory for him after being part of a team that had always been a contender since he arrived in the league.
