The Milwaukee Brewers lost on Tuesday, but they still ended the day with some good news.
The Brewers had no answer for Philadelphia Phillies ace Zack Wheeler , who struck out the first seven batters he faced and 11 overall. Milwaukee fell 6-4, dropping Tuesday's series opener at Citizens Bank Park and losing for just the 59th time this year.
Fortunately for the Brewers, however, the Atlanta Braves also lost, getting shut out 4-0 by the Cincinnati Reds . As a result, Milwaukee is now guaranteed at least the No. 2 seed in the National League.
The Brewers have already clinched the NL Central but have yet to clinch the No. 1 seed, which they lead by one game over the Los Angeles Dodgers . However, they've at least secured a first-round bye and home-field advantage for the NLDS.
That will help as Milwaukee aims for its first World Series title next month.
