- Brewers are finalists for Cy Young and Manager of Year, and that's not all
The Milwaukee Brewers got some news they surely anticipated Nov. 2 when Major League Baseball announced its "finalists" for major postseason awards – essentially the top-three finishers in each vote.
Jacob Misiorowski is a finalist for the National League Cy Young Award, and manager Pat Murphy is a finalist for the NL Manager of the Year award. Both are odds-on favorites to come away with the awards when they're announced next week.

But the Brewers also got a top-three finisher in the NL Most Valuable Player voting, with Brice Turang making the cut. Not only that, but Trevor Megill was named a top-three finisher for the inaugural Reliever of the Year award.
The awards are voted upon by members of the Baseball Writers Association of America.
Misiorowski has been the odds-on favorite to win the Cy Young for most of the season. The 24-year-old posted a 1.80 ERA and a league-leading 252 strikeouts in 175 innings, easily the best season for a starting pitcher in Brewers history. He's opposed by Chris Sale of Atlanta and Cristopher Sánchez of the Phillies , two pitchers who have likewise been on a trajectory to top-three Cy Young standing for much of the year.
Murphy, who led the Brewers to a franchise-record 103 wins and the first World Series title in team history, was joined by Don Mattingly of the Phillies and Walt Weiss of the Braves; if Murphy wins, he'll become the first-ever manager to win three consecutive years. He's already the first Brewers manager to win the award even once.
Megill, who recorded 30 saves this year and posted a 2.63 ERA, was joined by San Diego's Mason Miller and Philadelphia's Jhoan Duran among the finalists for the inaugural award, a separate distinction from MLB's annual relief pitcher of the year plaudit.

Miller will be tough to beat. He posted a 1.67 ERA this year, with 129 strikeouts in 70 innings. Even if Miller wins as expected, Megill and the Brewers can take heart in knowing Milwaukee was able to beat Miller in Game 2 of the National League Division Series.
Perhaps the most uplifting inclusion on the list is Turang, the Gold Glove second baseman who hit a career-best 21 homers and posted an .816 OPS. According to Baseball Reference, he was worth 7.3 wins above replacement, easily best of the team.
He won't likely outpace Cubs outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong or Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani for the award, but he's the first Brewers player to finish top-three in MVP voting since Christian Yelich was in the running after the 2019 season.
