Brewers Manager Compares Chourio to 'Young Kobe Bryant'

Fresh off a 4-for-6 performance against the Chicago Cubs , it's safe to say Jackson Chourio doesn't shy away from the big moments.
Chourio, 22, is currently in his third year with the Milwaukee Brewers .

This team took a major chance by signing him to an eight-year, $82 million deal back in December 2023, but that decision has seemingly already paid for itself.
It's the same risk they took with both Cooper Pratt and Luis Lara, two players who also drove in runs during the team's latest 9-5 win over the Cubs at Wrigley Field.
Chourio has seven hits in the first three games of the series, and his .287 batting average this season proves that in year three, he's destined for superstardom.
Pat Murphy praises Chourio
620AM WTMJ 's Dominic Controneo posted a quote from manager Pat Murphy ahead of game three of the Cubs series.

"No one knows it quicker than Jack Jack. He knows when he messes up. Jack Jack's like a young Kobe Bryant when he forced shots. It's gonna happen," Murphy said.
Chourio is currently riding a seven-game hitting streak, but he needed a day off to get his mind straightened out after he went 0-for-5 on Tuesday, Aug. 25.
Murphy added, "He turns it down a little bit and gets in that right mode. Yeah. Look out."
Murphy referenced Chourio "playing hot" in game two of the series, but that's a game where he still went 2-for-5 with a run and a stolen base.
Chourio being caught stealing could've been part of what Murphy was talking about, but at the end of the day, most baseball players could only dream of having a two-hit day at the ballpark of their greatest rival.

Chourio rides seven-game hit streak with four home runs
The Venezuelan native made the most of his day off as he immediately came back and hit a pair of home runs. It marked his first two-home-run game since June 13, but Chourio proved he's able to hit for power consistently.
During this seven-game hitting streak, he's homered in three games, including his 21st of the year on Sept. 2.
Chourio is now second on the team in home runs, trailing only Jake Bauers by two despite having played 20 fewer games.
While yes, Chourio does have 17 more at-bats than Bauers, it can't be forgotten that he didn't make his season debut until May 4 due to an injury he sustained in the World Baseball Classic.
That injury clearly hasn't had any effect on his game as the 22-year-old sensation is putting together his best year yet.
