The Milwaukee Brewers are one of the hottest teams in Major League Baseball during the young 2026 season, and that continued on Tuesday night.
One night after taking the first game of a three-game set with the St. Louis Cardinals , the Brewers dominated Game 2 to secure a series victory with a 6-0 victory over their division rivals in front of the home fans in Milwaukee. The Brewers had everything clicking in this game and proved once again why they are one of the best teams in the National League.
In the eighth inning, manager Pat Murphy called on reliever Abner Uribe to come in and bridge the lead into the ninth, and he did just that. Uribe struck out two and allowed just one hit in his inning of work, and he closed it out with a wild celebration after striking out Alec Burleson to end the inning.
Murphy didn't seem too thrilled with the celebration at all as Uribe made his way back to the dugout. However, there's no question some Brewers fans won't mind one of their top arms rubbing it in a little bit against a division rival after a dominant win.
Following the game, Uribe apologized for the gesture and explained that the Cardinals were talking trash from the dugout, which started the beef between the two teams.
Jake Bauers got the scoring started for Milwaukee in this game with a solo shot in the fourth inning. Milwaukee blew the game open in the fifth, when Willson Contreras hammered a two-run double before Garrett Mitchell brought them all in with a three-run home run out to center field.
On the mound, it was a dominant showing from Brewers starter Kyle Harrison . The 24-year old threw six rock-solid shutout innings, allowing just four hits while striking out a pair. He improves to a remarkable 6-1 on the season with this win.
Murphy and company will have a chance to go for the sweep over the Cardinals on Wednesday at home. After this win, the Brew Crew has a 3.5-game lead over St. Louis in the NL Central, so they are in very good position to build a bit of a lead in the division as the calendar flips to June.
