The Milwaukee Brewers wasted no time demoting Brandon Sproat after a horrific four-walk outing, one that nearly saw them blow an 8-1 lead to the Chicago Cubs .
Manager Pat Murphy simply hasn't had the patience with Sproat lately, nor should he, given how important every game is down the stretch.

With Sproat headed back to Triple-A Nashville, the team took about half of their off day on Thursday, Sept. 10, to decide who should replace Sproat in the big leagues.
Ultimately, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel 's Todd Rosiak reported that Garrett Stallings would be returning to the majors.
Stallings, 29, hasn't given up a run in his eight innings of work with the Brewers. The rookie has made four appearances, sporting a 0.3 WAR in that stretch as he's only allowed three hits in that span while striking out nine and walking three.
Brewers took the safe route
Coleman Crow was right there, but for whatever reason, the Brewers still want him in the Triple-A rotation.

If they truly needed a long relief arm to help out with Kyle Harrison 's next start, Crow should've been that guy.
He's been putting up tremendous numbers with the Nashville Sounds since his return from injury, and it's been quite some time since his option was used.
Either way, Murphy and Co. knew Stallings already had his option exercised as well, so they might as well add another bullpen arm with both Grant Anderson and Bryse Wilson on the shelf.
Losing those two put the bullpen in an interesting spot, though getting both Abner Uribe and JoJo Romero back helped ease a bit of that pain.

Regardless, Stallings was extremely solid in his first stint, and the Brewers are hoping he can help the team in whatever situation he's needed for.
Stallings can be that long relief option
Knowing he's only allowed three hits in eight innings, it's important to note that two of those hits came in his last big-league outing, which saw him record a career-high nine outs.
Stallings had previously not allowed a hit in his last two appearances, and each of those was two innings.
He's only recorded exactly three outs in one of his four appearances, and that came in his big-league debut on July 2.

All of Stallings' appearances have been extremely spaced out: July 2, July 8, July 27, and Aug. 3, so it'll be interesting to see if they try to get him into a rhythm or just keep things how they are, as he's expendable when either Wilson or Anderson returns.
