There's mixed news on the injury front as the Denver Broncos continue preparing for Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals .
First, the good news following the portion of Thursday's practice open to media members: cornerback Pat Surtain ( ankle ), wide receiver Jaylen Waddle ( chest ), running back Jonah Coleman ( ankle ) and cornerback Riley Moss ( ribs ) continue to practice. Surtain might be more likely to make his game-day return in Week 8 , but getting practice reps is a step in the right direction.
Now, the bad news: safety Talanoa Hufanga ( ankle ), outside linebacker Jonah Elliss ( ankle ) and running back Tyler Badie ( thumb ) remain sidelined. Hufanga is expected to miss at least one more game , and coach Sean Payton seemingly hinted after Wednesday's practice that Elliss could land on short-term injured reserve later this week.
Jahdae Barron has been starting in place of PS2, and Taylor Rapp did a nice job helping replace Hufanga last week. Meanwhile, Coleman and outside linebacker Jonathon Cooper ( reinstated ) are both candidates to return to the 53-man roster later this week.
Denver's scheduled to practice again on Friday before releasing a final injury report with game statuses for Sunday's showdown with the Cardinals .
