Broncos linebacker makes clear demand ahead of NFL free agency
Justin Strnad wants a starting job in 2026. It remains to be seen if the Denver Broncos will give him one.
The 29-year-old linebacker is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent in March, and he told reporters after the 2025 campaign that he's looking for a full-time starting role.
“I mean, to be honest, I don’t think I would be back here if it’s not in a starter role,” Strnad told the Denver Post 's Luca Evans . Strnad also told the Denver Gazette 's Chris Tomasson he's seeking a multi-year contract (he just wrapped up a one-year deal).
Strnad (6-3, 235 pounds) was not projected to be a starter in 2025, but he ended up starting about half the season as Dre Greenlaw dealt with various injuries (and a one-game suspension ) and Alex Singleton missed one game after undergoing surgery to remove testicular cancer.
Greenlaw is signed through 2027, but Singleton is scheduled to hit free agency in March. Given Strnad's starting demands, it's hard to imagine all three returning for the 2026 season.
Strnad played in 33 games over the last two years, making 16 starts. He totaled 131 tackles, 12 quarterback hits, 7.5 sacks, six pass breakups and one interception from 2024-2025.
