Browns add new blocking tight end on Day 3 of NFL free agency
Now into the third day of NFL free agency, the Browns have added depth to their tight end room to breed competition. They have inked veteran tight end Jack Stoll to a one-year deal.
Known as a blocking tight end, the Browns have been in pursuit of one, given the status of David Njoku as a free agent, and given the lack of ability to block shown from Harold Fannin Jr. The financials of Stoll's deal have not been released yet, so it is hard to tell what the expectation for the veteran should be, and if he should even be considered a lock to make the roster.
The Browns, for now, however, add another body to the room . This will not stop them from selecting another in the 2026 NFL Draft .
What Stoll brings to the Browns
It cannot be reiterated more that Stoll is an in-line blocking tight end. The Browns do not currently have one on the roster, as Fannin is not that. Stoll is being brought in to be a blocking tight end, the same role that he has played for the New Orleans Saints, Miami Dolphins , and Philadelphia Eagles .
This means he will find the field on 12 and 13 personnel packages, but is not going to be expected to be a massive part of the passing attack. In five seasons in the league, Stoll has just 28 catches to his name. He is being signed to bring an in-line element to the Browns.
