It has been clear since the beginning of free agency that the Cleveland Browns are putting a heavy emphasis on improving their offensive line. They traded for Tytus Howard and signed Zion Johnson as they attempt to rebuild the line for Todd Monken, and according to one NFL insider, they made a run at signing another before he signed elsewhere for big money.
Dianna Russini is reporting that the Cleveland Browns aggressively tried to sign former Jets first-round pick Alijah Vera-Tucker before he signed a 3-year, $42 million deal with the New England Patriots . This was a move I wanted the Browns to make, but at that price point, it makes sense why the Browns eventually dropped out.
Vera-Tucker missed the 2025 season with a torn triceps, but he's a former first-round pick who is very talented and played well when he stayed healthy. It's a risky signing because of his injury history, but he has played multiple spots on the o-line and done so well. Even though they missed out on AVT, it is clear they aren't done trying to improve their line.
