Browns C Luke Wypler gets extended audition after new Ethan Pocic news

The Cleveland Browns will be without their starting center for the rest of the 2025 season.

Leaving Sunday's loss to the Tennessee Titans on a cart, head coach Kevin Stefanski has confirmed that center Ethan Pocic has torn his achilles . This is the same injury that quarterback Deshaun Watson suffered against the Cincinnati Bengals last season. He just recently had his practice window opened up, and the Browns now have 14 days to activate him from the Physically Unable to Perform list.

This means that, with Pocic suffering the injury this late in the season, the entirety of his 2026 season could be in jeopardy. Given that he is a free agent after the season, this could not have come at a worse time for Pocic.

This leaves third-year center Luke Wypler with a one-month audition to win the starting job for the 2026 season. With Pocic no longer under contract for this season, the Browns will get a great look at whether or not Wypler can be the guy for them next year, or if they need to look for an upgrade via the 2026 NFL Draft or free agency.

Best wishes to Pocic as he recovers from this achilles injury.
