The 2027 NFL Draft will take place in Washington, D.C. next year. In that draft, the Browns still have their first-round picks, but a lot could happen in the next 7 months. Before then, though, there will be plenty of speculation and buildup about the team, and who they may add through the draft in a class many are calling one of generational wealth.
CBS Sports' Ryan Wilson recently released the latest 2027 NFL mock draft of the cycle, which has the team going with a new quarterback in Drew Mestemaker. The Oklahoma State passer has skyrocketed up draft boards as he works his way through more starts to help improve one talking point of his ability as a prospect.
Wilson explains the Mestemaker pick, writing, "I've said this for a month now, but if Arch Manning had Mestemaker's 2026 tape, he'd be QB1 by a large margin. Mestemaker is just 20 years old, but man, he does a lot of things really well. We'll see if he declares after '26 season or waits until next season, when he could take advantage of another weak QB class."
The Browns went with offensive line in their second pick of the mock by adding Minnesota's Greg Johnson. Both he and Mestemaker could be two starters who get plugged in right away and help this unit take another step in their development.
