Browns Sign Former First-Round Pick Entering 2026 Season

Just before the start of the 2026 NFL season, the Cleveland Browns have continued to add to the 53-man roster.
Cleveland has signed veteran cornerback Noah Igbinoghene, bolstering the depth in the secondary. NFL insider Tom Pelissero reported the news on social media.
Igbinoghene had previously signed with the Seattle Seahawks this offseason, but the team cut ties with him at the end of August. The veteran has been searching for a landing spot since, with the Browns being the team for him.

Now with Cleveland, Igbinoghene will try to get his career back on track. Igbinoghene is a former first-round draft pick of the Miami Dolphins out of Auburn.
Miami selected Igbinoghene with the No. 30 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
His rookie season was promising for the Dolphins, with the cornerback appearing in all 16 games for the team. During this time, he recorded 10 tackles, two pass deflections, two fumble recoveries, and three special teams tackles.
Igbinoghene also helped the Dolphins by being a kickoff returner, taking four returns back for 68 yards. But his next few seasons showed signs of trouble, with him struggling to replicate the success from the first year.

The cornerback only appeared in 16 games over the next two seasons due to numerous injuries. Eventually, Miami couldn't justify keeping him around, letting him go after the 2022 season.
Igbinoghene was traded to the Dallas Cowboys before the 2023 season, giving him a new opportunity to thrive. But he only played in five games for Dallas as a backup cornerback, mainly seeing the field for special teams opportunities.
He then signed as a free agent with the Washington Commanders the following year, and he's spent the last two seasons with them. Igbinoghene has been able to stay relatively healthy so far over the last two years, playing in 22 games.
Last season, Igbinoghene played in 15 games (starting two), recording 35 total tackles, one sack, and five pass deflections. Now with the Browns, Igbinoghene will likely be used more as a depth piece, but he could earn his way to a larger role if he performs well.

Overall, Igbinoghene has been in the NFL for six seasons. In this time, he has recorded 119 total tackles, one interception, one sack, and two fumble recoveries.
His time in the league has been underwhelming, especially considering he was a first-round pick. But he is only 26 years old, giving him a chance to change the narrative of his career starting this coming season.
