The Cleveland Browns finally have another safety under contract after restricted free agent Ronnie Hickman Jr. signed his tender.
Starting for the Browns over the first three years of his career in Cleveland, signing as an undrafted free agent following the 2023 NFL Draft, Hickman has earned this pay bump. He is now set to make $3.52 million this season , a vast improvement from his undrafted salary he was earning.
In 26 career starts, Hickman has racked up three interceptions and 11 passes defended. This includes an interception returned for a touchdown in the Thursday Night game against the New York Jets in 2023, the game that sealed a playoff spot for the Browns that year.
This did not impact Hickman too much, however, as he was practicing during mandatory minicamp despite not having a signed tender. He joins rookie wide receiver KC Concepcion as the lone player on the roster with an outstanding contractual obligation to be completed before the start of training camp.
Now, the Browns can turn their full attention to getting better during training camp and working toward a final 53-man roster.
