It is a home game for the Boston Bruins (37-23-8), they 13-1-0 in their last 14 games at the TD Garden. They will host the Winnipeg Jets (28-28-11), who have fallen after winning the Western Conference last season.
The Bruins are currently sitting in the top wild card spot in the Eastern Conference, while the Jets are out of the playoff picture.
Special teams have been the story all season in Boston. Going into the break, the Bruins posted the third-best power play in the league. Since the break, they have posted the sixth-worst, going 5-for-39 (12.4%).
The penalty kill has flipped, though. The Bruins' issues stemmed from their lack of discipline, and a struggling penalty kill did not help. Since the break, the penalty kill is 24-for-27 (88.9%).
The Jets are kicking off a three-game road trip in the Eastern Conference. They are 11-15-5 on the road this season, but have gone 6-2-3 since the Olympic break, posting the fifth-best record in the league during that span.
The Bruins' power play is not the only one to go dark after the Olympic break. The Jets' power play has gone 3-for-28 (10.7%) since returning in late February.
It will be a battle of the Team USA goaltenders at the TD Garden. Connor Hellebuyck will face Jeremy Swayman .
Bruins Morning Skate Notes
The B's held a morning skate at the TD Garden at 10:30 AM.
Lukas Reichel was recalled from Providence yesterday. He has five points in three games since being acquired at the trade deadline.
Reichel skated on the third line alongside Elias Lindholm and Morgan Geekie .
He will wear No. 75 – the first player to do so since Connor Clifton .
"I think speed, that's something we've been just lacking," Sturm said when asked what Reichel brings to the lineup. "And some skill. We can see it already on the power play, too, the second unit there. Hopefully, he can translate it to the game as well. He's here for a reason."
Marco Sturm announced that Reichel will be the only lineup change; he also said that Jeremy Swayman will be in goal.
