Ole Miss gave the Ohio State Buckeyes one of the greatest gifts in 2023 when their star running back Quinshon Judkins hit the transfer portal and landed in Columbus, Ohio. Judkins showed up to the Buckeyes, took the load off their star, TreVeyon Henderson, and together, the two became one of the greatest backfield duos in the country.
It was on their backs that the Buckeyes ran to a National Championship and will be forever remembered as one of the great Buckeye teams ever.
Ohio State could be the beneficiary of yet another key. transfer this upcoming offseason. Rumors began coming from Ole Miss that their star running back might be looking for a new home this offseason.
Current Rebel back Kewan Lacy was injured in their barnburner game against Texas last week, and it might be an injury that lingers for the rest of the season. He dislocated his shoulder and is going to definitely be out for this upcoming week and maybe some of the weeks to come.
The Rebels' season is on the edge right now as they currently have two losses to their name, and they cannot afford another one for the rest of the way, no matter what.
Lacy is a major factor in everything that the Rebels do, and if they are able to survive this weekend against Auburn and potentially next weekend against Georgia without him, then they might be gearing up for a College Football Playoff run.
If things go sideways in either of these weeks, it wouldn't be a surprise to anyone if Lacy decided to hang up the cleats for the rest of the year and decided to just get healthy for what is to come.
Then, the question becomes: does Lacy hit the draft, or will he hit the transfer portal? I am of the mindset that he should and likely would go to the NFL Draft. He has proven enough at the college level that he is a really good back with NFL talent.
However, if he wants to get one more year under his belt, there is a chance that he might hit the portal. If he hits the portal, Ohio State would absolutely be a team that is interested in his talents.
The Buckeyes are missing the elite running back that they had with Judkins and Henderson, who took them to the Championship. That is a major reason why they had an early exit last season and are battling this season.
Adding Lacy to the team certainly wouldn't hurt things. Maybe it is something, maybe it is nothing, but it is fun to think about what that team might look like if they added that elite talent to their roster.
