The Buffalo Bills need wide receivers for the postseason. They've turned to the group's preseason receptions leader.
The Buffalo Bills signed Kristian Wilkerson to their practice squad Tuesday, adding depth at a position that has been besieged by injuries.
Gabe Davis , Tyrell Shavers and Joshua Palmer all suffered season-ending injuries in the last week.
Bills sign Wilkerson for wide receiver depth
Wilkerson led the Bills in preseason receptions, catching seven of nine targets for 91 yards while making a strong case for a roster spot during training camp.
The 6-foot-1, 214-pound receiver was released as part of final roster cuts on Aug. 26 before re-signing to Buffalo 's practice squad the following day. He remained there until Nov. 11, when the Bills released him to make room for Mecole Hardman Jr.. Wilkerson and Hardman are now both back on the practice squad.
Wilkerson, who turned 29 on Jan. 10, also spent time during the 2025 season with the Tennessee Titans , signing and being released twice from their practice squad.
Wilkerson made a strong impression during training camp
His return to Buffalo comes after a strong impression during training camp, when injuries in the wide receiver room opened the door for extra reps. Offensive coordinator Joe Brady praised Wilkerson's performance at the time, saying he did a "great job" handling the increased workload.
General manager Brandon Beane echoed that sentiment during camp.
"I think Wilkerson's had a heck of a camp," Beane said. "He's gotten a decent amount of reps with the first group due to some of those injuries, and I don't see a guy who looks like he doesn't belong."
Wilkerson's path back to Buffalo
Wilkerson originally signed a one-year deal with Buffalo in May after being released by the Las Vegas Raiders . He spent the previous two seasons with the Raiders, catching two passes for 18 yards and a touchdown in 2024 .
He entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Titans in 2020 and later made his NFL debut with the New England Patriots , where he caught two touchdown passes from Mac Jones in a Week 17 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars during the 2021 season.
At the college level, Wilkerson was a first-team All-Ohio Valley Conference selection at Southeast Missouri State, setting school records for career receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.
