The Chicago Bulls have several boxes to check off this offseason, including rebuilding their front office and hiring a new head coach following the exit of Billy Donovan . The searches occur after a tough 2025-26 season for the Bulls that saw the team miss the postseason altogether for the first time in five years.
Recently, Michael Scotto reported on the latest updates on Tim Connelly's future with the Minnesota Timberwolves , which indirectly tied into the Bulls and their coaching search.
Scotto noted that "Connelly's right-hand man and Minnesota's general manager, Matt Lloyd, is considered arguably the front runner for the lead executive role with the Chicago Bulls . If Lloyd indeed is hired by the Bulls, Timberwolves lead assistant coach Micah Nori will be a strong candidate for Chicago's head coaching position."
Nori was put into the spotlight during the Timberwolves' 2024 playoff run, after head coach Chris Finch was injured and unable to stand up, prompting Nori to assume those responsibilities for a portion of the team's postseason that year.
The Timberwolves have done a strong job of turning their team from a laughingstock into a legit contender over the last several years, making back to back Western Conference Finals and currently one win away from upsetting the Denver Nuggets in the first round.
Thus, it certainly makes sense that a team like the Bulls would want to pluck talent from a stable organization and try to implement some of their magic in a new setting.
The Bulls have some intriguing pieces on their roster, including 2024 draftee Matas Buzelis , and will hope to add a blue-chip prospect to the mix in the NBA Draft this year, depending on the results of the NBA Draft Lottery, which is slated to take place on May 10, coincidentally in the Windy City.
