Caitlin Clark Names Kelsey Mitchell the 'Fastest Player' in the WNBA

When Caitlin Clark suffered a groin injury and an eventual bone bruise, which limited her to just 13 games in 2025, Kelsey Mitchell stepped up for the Indiana Fever .

Mitchell averaged 20.2 points, 1.8 rebounds and 3.4 assists while playing in all 44 games for the Fever. She helped Indiana secure a 24-20 record and reach the WNBA semifinals. The 30-year-old guard also finished in the top five in MVP voting and was named to the All-WNBA First Team.

Considering Mitchell's high level of play for Indiana, it's not surprising to see Clark hold her in high regard. In fact, the 24-year-old playmaker believes her teammate is the best in the WNBA in one key area.

On Wednesday, the WNBA posted a video of the Fever playing the trending "Pass the Phone" game. In the game, the Indiana players described the person they were passing the phone to.

While some opted to be funny, Clark chose to highlight her admiration for Mitchell and offered high praise.

"I'm passing the phone to the fastest player in the league," Clark said before the video transitioned to Mitchell.

While some might argue there are faster players in the WNBA over Mitchell, it's not hard to see where Clark is coming from. After all, the superstar guard's style of play is highlighted by her explosive speed and tenacious offensive game.

Mitchell excels in attacking the basket and creating her own shots, often utilizing her speed to break down defenses.

With Clark healthy again, her pairing with Mitchell will be a major talking point in the 2026 season. It will certainly be interesting to see how Clark's playmaking and shooting complement Mitchell's speed and elite offensive game.
