- Calais Campbell describes emotional toll of wasting 13-0 lead
The Baltimore Ravens had every reason to feel good about themselves at halftime Sunday. Without Lamar Jackson, they built a 13-0 lead over the Cincinnati Bengals . They controlled much of the first half and looked poised to secure an important AFC North win. By the end of the afternoon, however, Baltimore was left trying to explain another collapse , this time on its home field.
For Calais Campbell, the disappointment went beyond the final score. The veteran defensive lineman spoke with the media post-game . He acknowledged how difficult it was to watch a game that seemed within Baltimore's control go the other way. He also stressed that the response matters more than how long the team dwells on the loss. That's the kind of wisdom a legend gains after years on the field and seeing it all.
"It hurts more than anything, because we work so hard to win ballgames, and you feel like, 'OK, we put ourselves in position to win.' We're up 13-0 at halftime. We're feeling pretty good about ourselves, and then for us to let that lead slip away and then to find ourselves in a big hole. I mean, more than anything, when you end the game, you look at that and it's just like, 'Man.' But as a veteran player, my mindset is, 'All right, let's relax, reset, and get back to work.'"
The loss was particularly frustrating because Baltimore had shown it could dictate the game's terms before halftime. The challenge now is understanding why that level of play disappeared and finding a way to prevent another promising start from turning into a defeat.

Calais Campbell agrees Ravens must stop riding the highs and lows
Head coach Jesse Minter described Baltimore as a team that has become too dependent on momentum, whether things are going well or falling apart. Campbell agreed the results support that assessment and said the Ravens must stay consistent regardless of circumstances.
"Well, it seems to be that way just based off results. Obviously, that's not what we want to be, right? We want to be consistent across the board, no matter the circumstances. We have to find a way to do that, right? And I think a lot of it is being process-driven. The results are the results."
He described how quickly Sunday's game got away from Baltimore once Cincinnati seized control.
"I know for a fact we can play a whole lot better than we played that second half. We're going to have to, for the team that we want to be. We've got to find a way to be able to just be consistent across the board at all times, making our plays when they're there for us."
Campbell's comments reflect the larger concern facing the Ravens. Their problem isn't an inability to play good football. It's the failure to maintain that standard when the game shifts against them.

Calais Campbell says Ravens cannot blame Lamar Jackson's absence
Lamar Jackson's absence inevitably raises questions about how much different Baltimore's offense might look with its two-time MVP quarterback available. Campbell acknowledged Jackson's importance but made clear that the defense's responsibility doesn't change depending on who is under center.
"Well, we don't want to give up 35 points when he's on the field or not. That's just not something we want to do on defense. But obviously, [Lamar Jackson]'s one of the best players in football and one of the best players to ever play the game of football. So, when he's on the field, you feel a whole lot better, of course. But we also believe in [Tyler] Huntley. Huntley's been playing good ball for us. He's put us in position to have a chance to win, but we have to do better and execute – especially on defense."
That distinction matters after a defeat in which Baltimore's defense surrendered 35 unanswered points. Campbell isn't minimizing Jackson's value; he's insisting the team cannot use his absence to excuse shortcomings elsewhere. The veteran's approach to moving forward is straightforward: reset, review the film, and return to work.
"It's one game at the end of the day, whether we lost by one point or whatever the score was. It's one loss, and how we respond is going to be the most important thing."
Now last in the AFC North , the Ravens have little time to dwell on what went wrong. Their next challenge is in seven days against a Buffalo Bills team coming off a bye, and Campbell's message is clear. Baltimore must find a way to sustain its best football before another strong start ends in disappointment.
