- Cam Thomas gets intriguing Miami Heat opportunity after rough Milwaukee Bucks stint
Former Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo remains the centerpiece of the Miami Heat 's plans, and the team could use another addition to strengthen its backcourt. Miami wants to continue building around its star forward, but finding a realistic trade opportunity to make that happen could be difficult.
Thomas could give the Heat another option as they look for ways to strengthen the roster around Giannis Antetokounmpo . The 24-year-old guard is still looking for his next team after a turbulent 2025 26 season, but a new opportunity in Miami could help him get back on track. Heat Roundtable's Sean Jordan believes a move to South Beach could provide Thomas with the fresh start he needs.

"Now, he is viewed more as a reclamation project than a legitimate scorer but coach Erik Spoelstra could be the guy to revive Thomas' career as the young guard still has loads of potential," commented the NBA analyst.
The 24-year-old's path through the 2025 26 season was anything but stable. He began the year with the Brooklyn Nets before the team waived him after the trade deadline when a trade could not be completed. Thomas then joined the Milwaukee Bucks on a rest of season contract, but that stint also ended with him being waived once the season concluded.

Cam Thomas has seen his scoring decline since averaging over 20 points in back to back seasons with Brooklyn. Still, Erik Spoelstra could help him regain that form, making Thomas an intriguing option for Miami.

Thomas has played in as many as 66 games in a season, and his role as a depth piece would give the Heat some flexibility if availability becomes an issue.
