The Vancouver Canucks had a rough season, finishing 25-49-8 and missing the playoffs for the second straight season after being at the top of the Pacific Division a few years ago. That has led them to make some changes , with the first being firing general manager Patrik Allvin, according to Darren Dreger of TSN.

"Confirming Patrik Allvin has been let go by the Canucks," Dreger wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
Allvin had been with the team since 2022 afte spending 16 years with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
The Canucks finished last in the NHL with 14 fewer points than the 31st-place Chicago Blackhawks. The hope is that they can turn things around this offseason, and relieving Allvin of his duties was just the beginning. It's uncertain at this point if Adam Foote will be back as the head coach after ending the season with a 6-1 loss against the Edmonton Oilers.
There have been some major changes to the Canucks over the past two seasons, which included trading J.T. Miller to the New York Rangers last season and trading Quinn Hughes to the Minnesota Wild earlier this season. Neither of those moves put the Canucks in a better position, which is why they're in this situation now.

They continued to be in sell-now mode at the trade deadline, moving on from Conor Garland, Tyler Meyers, Kiefer Sherwood, David Kampf and Lukas Reichel.
It would not be a surprise to see them make other moves to the roster during the offseason, and they could be embracing a rebuild.
