Reports have suggested that Kawhi Leonard had no knowledge of the salary cap circumvention the Los Angeles Clippers engaged in to pay him. One former NBA star isn't buying it.
The Los Angeles Clippers and Kawhi Leonard were punished by the NBA, but more facts keep coming to light. While reporting on the situation, Shams Charania said Leonard had no idea about the payments.
According to Pablo Torre's reporting, Leonard's 'no-show' deal with Aspiration was worth around $48 million. Even for an NBA superstar, that is a significant amount of money.
And former Los Angeles Lakers player, Markieff Morris, has now weighed in on the matter. And he doesn't think there's any way the superstar had no knowledge of the situation.

The two-time NBA champion's uncle, Dennis Robertson, has been banned from all NBA-related dealings for the next five years. Everything suggests that as Kawhi's agent, he was the man behind the operation.
However, it does seem a bit difficult to believe that Leonard himself had absolutely no idea what was going on. That's exactly what Morris, whose twin Marcus was teammates with Kawhi, has pointed out.
"Cap! Too much money not to know! Ain't that much basketball in the world! Lol," Morris wrote on X in response to Charania's report.
Whether Leonard knew or not, and how much he knew, are things that fans are unlikely to find out. The fact remains that he got away with the lightest punishment in the entire scandal.
With Kawhi set to move to the Toronto Raptors once the trade goes through, this chapter does seem to be closed from his end, though.
