Bourne has been playing in the NFL since 2017, going through his first year with the Cardinals. He signed a two-year, $10 million contract worth up to $12 million with the team back in March, hoping to have an active role in the receiving corps.
However, bad news struck him when he went down with a leg injury in the Cardinals' upset win over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday afternoon. The official news was the worst-case scenario; while he won't need surgery, the veteran receiver will miss the rest of the regular season to make a full recovery.

"Based on initial testing results, #Cardinals wide receiver Kendrick Bourne (ankle) is set to miss the rest of the season, sources tell @CBSSports. Was the fear and he is in fact set to miss the rest of the year. Had ranked second among Arizona wide receivers with 26 catches and had three games this season with 5+ catches," football insider Matt Zenitz wrote.

What's next for Cardinals amid Kendrick Bourne's injury news
The Cardinals are losing options in the receiving corps. Michael Wilson stands out as the star receiver, while tight end Trey McBride assists him in that area. Losing Kendrick Bourne takes a big hit to their depth in that position.
Bourne caught 26 passes for 263 yards throughout the 2026 campaign with the Cardinals. He hopes for a successful recovery to get back on the field and be productive for the team again.
Arizona has a 3-5 record this season, being at the bottom of the NFC West Division standings. They are behind the Los Angeles Rams and the Seattle Seahawks at the moment. In terms of the conference standings, they are 12th place. They lead over the Dallas Cowboys and the Washington Commanders while trailing the Atlanta Falcons and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
