Carles Gil put on a clinic to lead the New England Revolution to a 3-1 win at the Columbus Crew on Sunday.
In the process, the 2021 Landon Donovan MLS MVP and five-time MLS All-Star placed himself in some rarefied air.
With a 1g/2a performance, the Revs' captain increased his career total to 152 goal contributions (57g/95a), making him the 20th player in MLS historyto reach 150-plus goal contributions.
Gil, who joined New England in 2019, picked up an assist on Matt Polster 's 32nd-minute equalizer that canceled out Brais Méndez 's opening goal for Columbus.
The Spanish playmaker then slipped a ball in for Dor Turgeman to increase the Revs' lead to 2-1 just before halftime.
Gil put the icing on the cake with a clipped golazo in the 79th minute, his eighth goal of the season.
