The Carolina Panthers have defied the overwhelming odds once again.
Here's everything we know from their shocking upset over the NFC-leading Los Angeles Rams in Week 13 . . .
Final score
Panthers 31, Rams 28
Keys to the game
-
Head coach Dave Canales called a beauty of a game on offense. He dialed up a total of 35 rushing attempts for running backs Chuba Hubbard and Rico Dowdle , who combined for 141 yards.
-
Quarterback Bryce Young ran the offense efficiently, completing 15 of his 20 throws for 206 yards and three touchdowns. He and the unit committed zero turnovers against the league's top scoring defense.
-
Carolina's defense clinched a win in the turnover battle, hitting up Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford for two interceptions and a fumble. The second interception ended in a 48-yard touchdown return by cornerback Mike Jackson.
It was over when . . .
Up 31-28 with 2:34 remaining, the Panthers got a huge takeaway courtesy of defensive lineman Derrick Brown —who caused a strip-sack of Stafford. Outside linebacker D.J. Wonnum recovered the loose ball to give Carolina possession at the 2:25 mark.
On the ensuing drive, Young connected with wide receiver Jalen Coker for a 10-yard gain on a third-and-5 into the two-minute remaining. With Los Angeles down to zero timeouts, the Panthers then juiced out the rest of the clock.
