The Carolina Panthers are now on the doorstep of their first division title in a decade.
Here's everything we know from Sunday's thrilling victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers . . .
Final score
Panthers 23, Buccaneers 20
Keys to the game
-
The Panthers defense contained the Bucs' potent passing game. Quarterback Baker Mayfield passed for 145 yards while receiver Mike Evans , often a terror against Carolina, caught five balls for just 31 yards and a score.
-
Quarterback Bryce Young kept the offense moving with his playmaking ability. He completed 21 of his 32 throws for 191 yards and two touchdowns.
-
Panthers wideout Tetairoa McMillan also starred on offense, posting a game-high 73 receiving yards and a score.
It was over when . . .
With 2:20 remaining in the game, rookie kicker Ryan Fitzgerald nailed his third field goal—a 48-yarder to give the Panthers a 23-20 lead.
Tampa , on the ensuing possession, was able to get down as far as Carolina's 37-yard line. But Mayfield, while trying to find Evans around the 30-yard line, threw an interception to Panthers rookie safety Lathan Ransom with 49 seconds left.
The Panthers then kneeled out the clock to finish off the win.
